As a bnei Noach of over 13 years, I can say for sure that the physical in person movement really didn't exist. I've been pondering this article since last year. I had a failed conversion attempt due to having to leave my job and take a new one that requires work on Saturday.
The main reasons Noahides can't become Jewish is we just can't keep Shabbat due to financial constraints. There are other reasons too, but that is the main one. Other than that we have family and friends that may cook for us or invite us to a non-kosher certified restaurant. Many Noahides describe intense loneliness because they're considered heretics by their family and friends. I know of one that converted Reform because he is LGBTQ+.
This article made up my mind that when I am financially able, I will convert with Darshan Yeshiva.
