Do you know a seasoned rabbi or cantor with a passion for guiding others on their spiritual journey of conversion to Judaism? Then we've got just the gig for them!
Darshan Yeshiva is looking for a few great conversion mentors to join our team? Know someone you feel would be a great fit? Send them our way! Here’s a light writeup about the role, though we encourage prospective applicants to read the full role on our website.
Job Title: Conversion to Judaism Mentor – Rabbi or Cantor
Category: Contractor – Remote
Compensation: $1,000 USD/student
Hours: Part-time, on your own schedule
If you're an ordained rabbi or cantor with a degree like MHL and have experience working with adult students and/or conversion candidates, we'd love to have you on our team! Knowledge of the conversion process and the experience of conversion candidates and Jews by Choice are essential. Plus, being tech-savvy is a real bonus, as you'll be working remotely with students through video-conferencing tools like Zoom and Skype, as well as using tools like Gmail as well as our own website.
What You’ll Do
As a mentor, you'll be responsible for guiding and supporting students on their conversion journey, remotely or in-person (no need to travel!). After their conversion education, you'll facilitate the beit din and mikvah to complete their transformation. The ritual circumcision or equivalent is handled separately but through your guidance
We offer a flexible payment structure based on the number of students you mentor per month, allowing you to set your own schedule/workload and earn additional income at any stage in your career. And guess what? No meetings with boards of directors or donors – just pure religious mentorship!
Our Ideal Candidates
We are particularly interested in rabbis located outside of those areas, especially Europe, Asia and Africa. Having said that, we are accepting applications globally.
We value diversity and inclusion in our hiring and operations, and we hope you do too! Those from traditionally marginalized communities are deeply encouraged to apply.
Note that we don't accept Messianic rabbis or similar, and we're not currently hiring Orthodox rabbis or clergy based in Israel.
