This week’s Parasha Shemini 9:4 says, “An ox and a ram as peace offerings to slaughter before G-D, and a grain offering kneaded with oil, for today G-D is appearing to you.”
A Ox and a Ram, what does this mean; and how would a G-D who is not a physical entity be satisfied with a the sacrifice of two of the most random farm animals as a peace offering, This is a question that many who would dare start down the road of reading the Levitical codes and laws describe in the book of Leviticus would come up, and for many would be a question that would prove to be the end of a valiant effort to understand this 3000 year old sacrificial system that G-D commanded the priest to offer in the Temple. The Lubavitcher Rebbe Brings in the daily insight of today’s verse that “when G-d created the world he programed certain spiritual processes into the fabric of creation” What does this mean????
