I’ll admit that Vayikra (the Book of Leviticus, also this week’s Torah portion) isn’t exactly a great torah portion for the squeamish. The text offers…well…all the offerings!
Cattle
Bull
Sheep
Goats
Birds
But at least we also have flour and its many variations of cakes and what seems like matzah. And of course, it all needs to be leaven free (2:11) and lest we forget, God loves salt (2:13).
What does anyone make of this?
That God wants to have a relationship.
And like all good relationships,
it needs to have boundaries.
